HGTV Magazine

Via
I love getting new ideas for home improvement, gardening, etc. from articles from magazines or from watching home improvement shows on TV.  I just picked up the new magazine by HGTV; and if you haven't bought it yet, you should.  It has so many great ideas in this magazine.  Believe me, I look at a lot of magazines, too.

I love getting the ideas and then changing them a bit to fit me.  I saw some great ideas for projects; but they will have to wait until I do my next project lined up.  I am going to make a wall unit for my sewing room.  I need to be more organized.  I have an idea of how I am going to do it; but if anyone out there can give suggestions, please feel free.

Updating a Garage

I have been thinking of fixing up my garage to be like another room.  Just what I needed was another room to clean on a regular basis; but it will be worth it.  I decided since I had 3 days off that I would put it to good use and finally clean up the garage.  I have a big collection of stuff after a few years of living.  Getting the boxes and furniture out of the garage was a challenge in itself.  I decided if I was going to do this project, it was going to be done right. My daughter helped some by cleaning the walls for me to get ready to paint them and did most of the trim work on the walls.  I then preceded to paint the walls a bright yellow.  The concrete floors had to be scrubbed with a concrete cleaner and then rinsed and painted after dry.  They are now a medium gray color.  All the woodwork and the work bench are white semi-gloss.  The room turned out so nice and  is a very nice addition to the rest of the house.  I will not mind cleaning it after all.  I have it organized so I can actually find things to do my gardening or do other projects in there.  I love building things.

So, if you are a women or a man and had thoughts of doing your garage before, dive in and just do it.  It was well worth the time.  I do mean time.  It took 5 hours the first day and about 10 the next and at least 10 - 12 the next.  I dusted everything and organized it all.  You will be happy with the results.  I made it through because I didn't let myself think about how big the project was.  I just thought about each thing that I had to get done to go to the next and then before I knew it, the project was complete.

I am very happy I spent the time doing it and will make sure it stays in good order.
